New Hotline to Serve Iowans with Interpreters

Refugee Alliance of Central Iowa and Lutheran Services in Iowa, in partnership with 211, Polk County Health Department and the Iowa Department of Public Health have launched a new hotline to serve Iowans who are limited in English. The number is 1-877-558-2609. Interpreters will be available 8:30 am to 5:00 pm on weekdays with a 24 hour voicemail for 15+ languages.

Food Insecurity

The Food Bank of Iowa has links to find food assistance programs closest to your area. Additional food assistance resources are available via the Iowa Department of Human Services website. Iowa State University Extension and Outreach has also provided pantry picks to help families learn how to prepare meals from foods often provided from food banks. Additional food ideas in support of low cost and healthy choices are available via recipes and videos. 

May 12, 2020 Stakeholders Alliance Zoom

The Early Childhood Iowa Stakeholders Alliance is a confederation of stakeholders in early care, health, and education systems that affect children age zero to five in the State of Iowa. The Stakeholders Alliance will meet via Zoom on Tuesday, May 12 from 1:30pm to 3:30pm. This meeting is open to any interested stakeholder. To help ECI connect with interested participants, please complete this survey. During the May 12 Stakeholders Alliance meeting, one of the agenda items will be focused on information shared from the Iowa Public Information Board regarding steps to take to meet open meetings and open records laws; especially during this time of electronic meetings.
